It used to be that Eldersburg, Maryland was a nice quiet place to live and once in awhile there was a speeder or an occasional robbery. Within the past week, there have been three - count 'em - three Eldersburg robberies. What the heck is going on? Have hard times hit the Burg so much that folks are resorting to robbing one another? Or is the crime element coming from out of the area?
Eldersburg crime is not syndicated. No organized groups are driving the crime wave, as each of the three robberies - once at the Subway on Liberty Road, and twice at the Dunkin Donuts, were culprits looking for a quick cash grab and run.
Eldersburg crime is not local folk. The folks making these robberies have not concealed their faces. And being that everyone in Eldersburg knows each other, being a tight-knit community, it's highly doubtful that these one or more theives would rob and risk being easily identified.
Eldersburg has gone Gotham. The crimes in Eldersburg for the most part are opportunistic and seeking cold hard cash, not complex heists, and are becoming frightenly consistent.
Read more about the Subway robbery and the most recent Dunkin Donuts robbery.
The Eldersburg robberies can be excused as an anomoly, but the list of crimes in Eldersburg on Eldersburg.Net from the past two years shows that crimes in Eldersburg are not just a rare occurence, but an increasing part of sub-urban life. And there's several concerned Eldersburgites, including this blogger who wants to know "Who's Robbing Eldersburg?" and warns "Unlike Baltimore City, law-abiding citizens in Carroll County are also packing heat. And unlike Baltimore City, I think justice will be swift and permanent."
